CSS Gallery Inspiration Project

Due to very generous web designers sharing their secrets, I’ve been able to avoid banging my head against the keyboard trying to solve IE bugs and creating websites. People like Andy Clarke (author of Transcending CSS), Dave Shea (author of CSS Zen Garden), and Chris Coyier (founder of community CSS Tricks) have been web design heroes for me. To try and give back I’ve developed an online web design community called CSS Formula. Right now the site is just a CSS gallery, but we’ve got big plans for the project!
CSS Grain Background Tutorial
Recently I created a website to organize and plan my upcoming wedding. When doing so it quickly became apparent that a visual shortcoming was the background. Although I used a grain based background (which is very popular right now) it still seemed too plain. To make things more interesting I added a transparent radial gradient on top of the repeated grain background. You can see a demo of the finished product at the link below.
Fun With CSS 3 Shadows

A few weeks ago I became engaged. I must confess though, I’ve been secretly contemplating the wedding website’s design for a few months. I wanted it to be graphically spectacular, but anybody who has created a powerfully graphic driven website, knows they can be frustrating when converting everything to CSS. Instead of spending an extra 20 hours on the project I thought “Why not create as many graphics as possible with CSS 3?” Playing with the new CSS 3 Web Kit I managed to discover some extremely interesting uses for the new shadow property with rounded corners.
Font-Face Resources

The new CSS 3 font-face property is taking over web based typography. Here I’ve compiled a quick overview with a list of the best resources out there.
